Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started & Expectations

We have counselors and life-coaches with extensive experience working with teens and young adults. They each specialize in specific areas of mental health. We focus on supporting the family surrounding our clients too so they may live with unity.

You can schedule a free consultation to discuss your needs and our staff will give you counseling and coach options that will best meet your needs. You can schedule a consultation directly on our website.

You will receive access to an app you can download on your smart phone, smart pad or computer. You can communicate through the application directly with your counselor/coach, schedule appointments and make changes to your account through a HIPPA secure environment.

We focus on helping our clients achieve an outcome to manage or overcome challenges independently for the long-term, following a completed therapy or coaching treatment plan. We meet our clients where they are at with their issues and move at a pace comfortable for them to achieve the best possible outcome. Our objective is to see our clients leave us healthier and happier and envisioning a bright future ahead without the need for therapy.

All About Counselors & Life-Coaches

Our counselors have completed a master’s degree or Ph.D. from an accredited mental health counseling college program. They are licensed to work in the state as a marriage and family therapist (LMFT), licensed clinical or social worker (LCSW / LMSW), or licensed professional counselor (LPC), and have between 5 and 30+ years of counseling experience. They have experience working with teens, young adults, and families. They can treat a wide range of mental health issues, but also specialize in a few areas depending on their experience and interests.

Our coaches have a bachelors, masters, or Ph.D. college degree and between 5 and 30 years of experience coaching teens, young adults, or families. They have completed a life-coaching certification program through an International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited school (see coachingfederation.org for more information on ICF’s code of ethics and standards of practice). They have experience working with teens, young adults, and families.

Coaching is a form of strengths-based support for persons dealing with a broad range of challenges from living with serious mental illness (e.g., bipolar disorder) to developing good life choices. Coaches do not diagnose disorders and the focus of treatment starts with the current conditions, symptoms, and recent events. Coaches help the client develop plans for future success dealing with their issues; while counseling may dive deep into the client’s history to understand the root causes of the underlying issues, diagnose disorders, and use some different techniques to treat clients.

Our coaches complete a thorough interview process using behavioral interview questions, which may include a mock client session. They complete a thorough background check including federal and state criminal reviews, education and license verification and reference checks.

Online Sessions & Treatment

During your session, you will be asked to share background information on your issues, feelings, and circumstances experienced. Your counselor/coach will ask you questions, use therapeutic treatment practices, develop a treatment plan, and help guide you to make changes that positively impact your life, with the goal to return to a healthy and happy life.

Research indicates that mental health teletherapy outcomes are as effective as in-person therapy treatment. Teletherapy offers the benefit of being able to attend a therapy or coaching session from the comfort and convenience of your home or any destination with virtual video capability and a good internet connection. It secures anonymity coupled with our HIPAA secure video connection and client database. You save on travel time to and from having to wait for your loved one in an office to compete their session.

All you need is a device you can use to access a link to a video with your counselor/coach and a good internet connection; a quiet and safe place where you feel comfortable speaking openly and freely with us.

We set up a treatment plan that is specific to each of our clients’ needs. Our goal is to ensure you get the proper and adequate treatment to overcome or independently manage your symptoms and issues for the long-term. Clients typically respond best to treatment if they spend at least 12 to 16 weeks working with us but could range from 6 weeks to over a year. Ending treatment prematurely often results in recurring issues. We want you move on with an improved life when you are ready. It is your decision how long you seek treatment and when it should end.
